Justine Leigh-Bell steps up from co-CEO as founder Ulf Erlandsson returns to investing at AP4

London, UK - 17 Feb 2026

The Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute (AFII), the research organisation empowering the global fixed income market to advance the climate and nature transition, today announces the appointment of Justine Leigh-Bell as Chief Executive Officer.

In her role as CEO, Justine will lead AFII’s strategic direction, advance its research agenda, and work closely with asset owners and managers to integrate climate and nature factors into fixed income portfolio construction and risk management.

With more than 15 years at the forefront of sustainable fixed income, including as Deputy CEO of the Climate Bonds Initiative, Justine is widely recognised for her insights into how bond markets can support real economy decarbonisation and resilience. Under Justine’s leadership, AFII will continue to translate research and market analysis into practical tools, investor guidance and engagement strategies, ensuring that climate and nature considerations are reflected in day-to-day capital allocation decisions.

Founder Ulf Erlandsson will return to investing at the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4) and remain involved in AFII’s work as a board member, where AFII will draw on his insights as a current investor active in the markets.

AFII’s senior team combines deep market expertise. Managing Director Kamesh Korangi leads the development of AFII’s portfolio strategy and analytics, while Managing Director Jo Richardson heads its research. Both bring extensive frontline trading experience from top tier financial institutions, anchoring AFII’s work in market practice.

Commenting on the transition, Justine Leigh-Bell said: “AFII was founded to help fixed income investors navigate the global transition with confidence, managing climate and nature related risks while driving the decarbonisation of the real economy. I’m honoured to build on Ulf’s vision and to work with our exceptional team and partners to scale the tools, analysis and engagement that investors need to act at pace and at scale.”

Ulf Erlandsson added: “Creating AFII has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career, and Justine has been a part of that since the very early days. Handing over to her and the excellent team that we have built is a natural progression of the organisation as I move back to the investment side. I will continue to support AFII as a member of the board, and look forward to joining AP4, an asset owner committed to incorporating climate and nature risk into its decision-making.”

In 2026, AFII will focus on expanding the user base of Co₂liseum, its climate-aligned portfolio analytics platform, and growing the readership and impact of its research, particularly across sovereign debt, nature loss and the transition in the Asia-Pacific region.
