Dave Smith

Core Technology Lead

Dave is part of the Portfolio team and supports the development of AFII’s portfolio analytics platform, Co₂liseum, translating conceptual models into working software and building the data pipelines, databases and web applications that power the platform. He also contributes to the development of AFII’s internal financial and climate analysis tools.

Dave holds a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Leeds. He previously worked as an electron microscope research technician in biological sciences, specialising in 3D electron microscopy, where he helped design and execute experiments, analyse complex datasets and develop custom software to support imaging and analysis workflows. 

He later worked as a software engineer at a web agency specialising in charities and NGOs before joining AFII.
