CoreWeave (CRWV) has issued over USD20bn in bonds in the past 18 months. Its sole EUR-denominated security — the EUR8.5% 2032s — has fallen 22% since issuance and yields are over 14%. More than half of reported holdings of this bond sit in SFDR Article 8 or 9 funds, creating a direct sustainability governance question for asset owners.

CoreWeave offers minimal emissions disclosure, stating only that it is “currently evaluating” its Scope 1 and 2 emissions, with Scope 3 assessment yet to begin. Energy procurement — central to both its emissions profile and its financial stability — seems to have no stated strategy. Technology sector emissions are growing faster than any other, making this gap increasingly material.

Of the EUR500mn in public holdings data available, EUR273mn sits in Article 8 or 9 funds. The top 10 holders by SFDR classification include Invesco, Nordea, AllianceBernstein and Allianz. Financial distress creates leverage: asset owners with sustainable mandates are well placed to request a stronger energy and emissions strategy as a condition of ongoing support.
